Poor man's macro shooting

Was playing with 28mm/F2.8 lens holding it reversed in front of the camera body.
Hard to take sharp pictures that way. Very shallow dof and focusing distance is like 3-5 cm from the target.
Maybe I'll get a cheap reverse adapter ring from ebay for shooting e.g. bugs
