A few weeks ago I watched the Moorhen family which had hatched five chicks, unfortunately we are now down to just this one.   One of the perils of bringing up a family where there are Pike and other predators.    This little chap is growing fast so hopefully he'll keep safe.
The green on the surface of the water is duck weed, that comes every summer and will eventually be a thick cover.
