Rags of light

I'm a LAYDEE!

I've just finished this book and I bought a copy for my friend Kathy. I highly recommend it. It's the story of a famous court case in 1870 involving two transvestites who were arrested and charged with an array of offences. I won't say more as it's worth reading the book to see what happens. It's very well written in a rather camp style that suits the subject matter.

What amazed me about it was how commonplace transvestism was at that point, in London at least. Stella was a real looker and had scores of admirers. She was devoted to her 'sister' Fanny who was less convincing when dressed as a woman. I suspect she was in the David Walliams mode!
