Sipping Nectar

This was always going to be a bit of a week, with a number of things all going on at the same time. The bathroom rip out and refit, J’s daily trips to the hospital, and quite a bit more.

I took a little “ time out” in the front garden late morning to photograph a bee or three on our lavender row. It’s very bee popular at the moment. I like this shot because the honey bee and it’s eye is very in focus, and the structure of the stalk of lavender flowers (most of which are now spent) is interesting. To me at least.

Every winter we wonder whether the lavender is getting too woody and past its best, every year (thus far) it comes roaring back, in a floral sense.

Weather report for today. What heatwave ?

Oh and thanks to Osuzanna for hosting. I came across her little guide to shooting insects in macro today after taking this, it is very helpful.
