Another trip to Bournemouth

To see my friend who is in the middle of a tough  course of chemo (and her partner, who is also a good friend). We had a lovely day. We sat in the flat having a good catch up in the morning. They have an amazing Dyson fan which cools the air and then blows it around almost silently. I want one - though it’s expensive - but if we’re going to have heat waves every year it’ll be worth it.
We went to a place called Compton Acres, which had a good cafe for lunch. Then we had a wander around the gardens - a formal Italian garden, a Japanese one, and a sculpture area.  I liked the woodland area best, with lots of pools and water lilies. It’s nice going round very slowly, and sitting on every shady bench for a rest. We were kept company for a while by a fledgling robin. It’s hard for it to find food on that dry ground.  I wished I’d had a pocketful of dried mealworms, though it would have been a bit smelly:) I have found a little bit of care is needed when talking with someone who doesn’t have very much future ahead.  It’s good to talk about the present, what we’re seeing and hearing. “Living in the now” as people say.
This fabulous hydrangea is actually by their front door, it’s the nicest colour I think I’ve seen, so much depth.
