The day after
It's still cloudy, but it feels warmer and the rain stopped at about midnight. The ground is completely saturated (possibly for the first time in a couple of years) and the run-off here and there is spectacular. 50mm fell in total.
This is an ephemeral creek crossing a local paddock, which will probably have disappeared in a couple of days.
We had a morning walk during which Bean was absolutely bounding with beans. She was clearly delighted to be running around without rain drops falling all over her. It was a joy to witness.
I dug some parsnips and leeks. Soup with the leeks. Roast dinner with the parsnips (and spuds, some bacon and beans from the freezer).
I'm super-alert to any changes in my body, but so far I have no symptoms of covid. I'll be crossing everything for another couple of days...
I'm after recommendations: I need to get some good quality, waterproof, long-lasting walking shoes (not boots).
They will be used a couple of hours most days, on a mixture of sealed road, unsealed road and paddocks. Any recommendations?
The last (mid-price) walking shoes I bought have lasted four months before seams have split. I can't bear to buy another pair which feels such a waste of money.
