Pink Poppy

........... mum was moved from the hospital yesterday and into a nearby dementia unit for 4-6 weeks while her ongoing needs are being assessed. My brother went to visit today to see if visiting will still upset her too much - both he and his wife walked straight passed her and didn’t recognise her because she’s deteriorated so much in the last three weeks. She was admitted to hospital in the first place because of persistent vomiting and she just stopped eating, so she has lost a lot of weight and presumably because she is so weak she’s stopped walking and is moved everywhere in a wheelchair........ three weeks ago she walked unaided.
The only relatively good news is she didn’t get upset by having visitors - basically she’s completely lost her spark and vitality and her memory is significantly worse.
I’m glad she’s being looked after in this hot weather as she definitely wouldn’t have coped on her own.
The unit is quite a bit further away from me and I will struggle to find enough energy for the long journey but I want to go and visit her before too long.
