The Professor Consultant

Went early with Ju for a scan - done by the guy whose research has formed UK policy around baby loss, an engaging man. Her baby is still small, but growing normally, so he was quite reassuring.

The day has been dominated by sadness (and tears) over Rio, who continued to be missing until, as we were consoling ourselves this evening with triple chocolate cookies and ice-cream ... a phone call about half nine, from Amar, around the corner, "There's a cat on my windowsill, don't know if it's yours...". Ju and Tom dashed round with the carrier, and sure enough, the rascal is back home, being spoilt, eating his fill. Thank-you, God.

Other than that, more painting (my wrist hurts), clearing up, waxing the shelves, tiling in the bathroom, taking their car for its MOT (which it failed). Mike took Tom to work and collected him.

And lots of phone calls to Mourão - our water has run out, still not sorted the problem... really hoping our young trees survive, it's been 44C there today, and still 40C at 8pm. Must admit, very glad to be missing the heat.

Gratefuls:
- as I'd hoped, the biggest is that Rio is back, don't like seeing my girl upset; thanks so much for all your concern and prayers!
- that we still have electricity at our place in Mourão, so the contents of our freezer should be OK (though worrying that no water, is it leaking out somewhere??)
- the prospect of a hot bath, it's been quite cool today, plus I ache
