We love a good market
Joy of joys, when we got to our hotel on Wednesday we were told we would not be allowed to leave our car in the car park - or in the town, we must park it on the outskirts because Thursday was the first Brocante for 2 years. A brocante is basically a fleamarket - or a secondhand market - and this one was huge - it took over every street in this small town. We spent hours pottering around seeing the most unimaginable stuff for sale - and it being bought! We bought some old glasses (the drinking type), a rather lovely glass bowl and some very fine smoked garlic which was not part of the brocante - certainly not secondhand.
Lunch was a pleasant baguette sandwich with a bottle of water as a picnic on the ramparts looking down over the country side.
It being 14th July it was also Bastille day although there did not appear to be any celebrations for it other than a public holiday.
The main photo shows the garlic stand.
The collage - wine and beer at 10:30 seems quite normal (not us), various articles for sale
