Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary
We were on the road at 8am taking Aidan to the Golf Course for his Charity Tournament. The place was seething with cars, people, golf cart all preparing for their day.
From there we heading across town to Billabong. We have been there many times, but each time is different. We spent the morning and into the afternoon walking around, listening to talks, watched the feeding of the koalas and the crocodiles. So many neat things going on, and I actually took my camera and took over 100 photos. Not even looked at them, just wanted to blip Lexi with various animals. She just loves them and is very trusting. She did get her finger nipped by a turtle which made her leap back for a moment.
If anyone ever comes north to Townsville (Population 180,000) there is so many attractions here…..The Strand, many fabulous beaches, Magnetic Island just off shore, an awesome aquarium, museum and of course the Wildlife Sanctuary.
From there the four of us went out to lunch, a rather up market place overlooking the river, the marina through to Castle Hill.
Once finished we went and collected Aidan and came on home.
Our last duty as Grandparents was to go to swimming lessons. …. We opted to walk which was rather nice for a change.
Takeaway pizzas for an easy and delicious dinner.
Tomorrow we start our journey home, two flights…one domestic to Brisbane and the international flight back to Christchurch arriving at 11.45 pm. We are staying at a hotel close to the airport (they collect us). Then we’re having breakfast with our friends before travelling home on Sunday.
See ya on the other side
Rainie
