We may be in a spot of bother!
I was out this afternoon photographing some of the village community garden areas. This is a close up of one of our wild areas that we have planted with daffodils, poppies and corn marigolds Glebionis segetum.
On reflection the marigolds may have been a serious error of judgment. The corn marigold was such a serious weed in Scotland during the 13th century, that King Alexander II passed a law stating that if a farmer allowed so much as a single plant to produce seed in amongst his crops, then he would be fined a sheep. We are concerned that the law may never have been repealed and we are clean out of sheep!
