Disappearing act

The River Mole gets is name from its habit of going underground in times of drought. For a two or three mile section as it flows through the North Downs gap it disappears underground, only to reappear further downstream. I checked up on it this morning and sure enough, the river bed was almost dry. The last time it dried up was in 1976 and I took the children for a historic walk along the river bed. We picked up one or two little treasures, but nothing spectacular. I last photographed the river for Blipfoto was when it was flooding in October last year.
Having been out early to look at the river, I stayed indoors for the rest of the day. Luckily we have a cool house.
