As if we didn't know?

Way back in the mists of history.  A bloke knocked on the door and offered to remove some trees for us; three to be exact.  Two I didn't mind, one I'm still not over sure about.  What sort of amused me was the way he dived(UK), dove(US) into one of them and announced - "See, it's all dead inside.", like I didn't know the characteristics of most conifers.

I've illustrated it on a neighbour's hedge just around the corner for a few years.  Here's another textbook example - you can see how much of the HUGE width shows any sign of greenery.

NOW that dark shady corner will no longer be a gloomy rain-shadow.
