Taking a Bow

Pianist Garrick Ohlsson is holding the flowers. Maestro Michael Palmer is on the left. They are enjoying a standing ovation from the audience. We just heard Beethoven’s 1st and 3rd piano concerti. Tomorrow they’ll play 2 and 4 and Sunday number 5. All five concerti in three days. An amazing feat. Even more so considering the same thing happened 24 years ago at the Bellingham Festival of Music. The extra is a recording of those concerts in 1998. Garrick is older now and so is Michael. Both are in their 70s. And I am so fortunate to be able to attend this series twice. I was there and I’m still here.
