Juvenile Greenfinch
This morning I spotted a family of greenfinches going backwards and forwards from my feeders to the hawthorn tree in the garden. Their numbers seem to be increasing again after the virus that decimated their population.
Before it got too hot I went for a walk along the canal from Queen's Head. There were butterflies everywhere, all the same varieties that I saw on a different stretch of the canal on Monday.
There were also damselflies, an Emperor Dragonfly and lots of grasshoppers. I saw a kestral, willow warblers and buzzards but the treat of the morning was a kingfisher whizzing along the water (no photo of course).
