Peter came to visit

Peter is one of my first cousins once removed. He and his siblings and cousins are the nearest I have to nieces and nephews.

He travelled by train from Ilkley to Hexham today to spend a few hours with us. He is a seasoned traveller, commuting over two hours to and from Barnsley every day. He is a psychiatrist and looks after patients with serious psychotic illnesses. He describes his work as challenging and interesting.

He brought goodies from Betty's no less!

It's been a lovely sunny day. We managed to keep cool inside.

I made quiches and still had a soggy bottom problem because they ran out. They tasted very good, but I'm determined to solve this one. (Yes I blind bake, yes I use metal tins, yes I put the pastry base back in the oven for an extra 5 minute after the beans are removed). One pastry base cracked over night, so I must have stretched it too much. The other just ran out.

Peter said he would not have noticed if I had not mentioned it. He also had second helpings. The perfect guest!!
