Patience...

I went to my local meadow first thing for a speculative blip and spotted a common blue on a thistle. It was gorgeously lit, but I didn't get the shot, mainly because my shadow would have been in the way.

The butterfly kept circling out of reach so I also circled round the paths several times and then just as I was about to go home, I spotted several more in another part of the field. They seemed to be a bit calmer - maybe they were still waking up? Anyway, this particular one was quite cooperative and I got several shots from only a few feet away. The main image has only been cropped a little.

The portrait extra is one of the earlier photos and it is quite cropped but it really shows off it's fluffy body.
