Power to the People
I snapped this out the window as we drove home late morning…(I wasn’t driving I need to add). This is an example of a nor-west arch, which means strong winds and rain on the other side of the divide. Note the frost still on the ground. A very average phone photo, but will do for today and tells the story.
And this is what is being forecasted…a severe weather warning for the South Island, rain rain and more rain for the West Coast, and gales force winds for us, the East coast. They’ve already started.
Such a heavy frost when we woke this morning -5.6°, we only reached 6° here.
We never got into Christchurch until almost 1am last night, we were collected and taken to our warm room. Sleep evaded us!!
After breakfasting with our very good friends Jane and Graeme, we headed home (a 2 hour drive). Even at 1pm this afternoon there was still frost on the ground, a miserably cold overcast day. The first thing I did was strike a match to the fire, the second was measure the rain - 92mm. The house was so cold.
Smooch arrived about an hour later, good to see that he was Ok…..since then he hasn’t left my side or knee. Such a loving cat.
Nice to home again, but the three weeks in Townsville were also so much fun.
Thanks so much to you all for staying with me over that time, when I wasn’t responding in any way. There really wasn’t any time.
We have both done our required RAT within 24 hours of arrival back in NZ and both were negative as expected.
Rainie
