The garden path
From the patio of our house for a week in Rhayader we look out onto fields, hills, and farmland. There is also a big area belonging to the house and the grandchildren like to explore there. We can see them from above. Last night we watched the lights of the tractors sweeping across the fields like torches. This morning they were working again and the red kites came mob handed to circle the just mown fields. There are kites to watch all day long over the house. I know they are looking at us.
By a stroke of luck it was the Rhayader carnival day and we went into the town to watch the parade. It was really enjoyable. The whole town was having fun in the sun. In the extra I picked out the float with a Welsh Dragon, enthusiastically voiced by a bard of sorts. Don’t know what she was saying, so great was the applause and cheering, but later, on the town park, there were stalls, and rides, and a
prize giving, and she was there on the ‘ Try being a Trapeze Artist stall’. Red kites patrolled the proceedings, and screaming swifts circled the old town buildings.
A great day out at a local community event.
We came back and sat out until late watching the red kites and the tractor lights.
