Honeybee on lavender
I love my compost heap - as well as being a great asset on the plot, it's near water, has a bee hotel and lots of plants around it and offers cool, shady shelter for wildlife (especially amphibians!).
I love this point of the summer when the lavender is in bloom. I've given the plants a Chelsea cut to prolong flowering but some stems have started to bend over.
This honeybee still found the bottom flowers on bark chips. It's just buzzing at the moment.
