A grand day out at.....

....Alton Towers.

We were lucky with the weather, it was warm and sunny but not like what is forecast from tomorrow.

Claire, Gemma, Tyler and myself went, but we sensibly left Orla with Grandparents. We were going to take her but the heat would have been too much for her all day.

We got to go on everything we wanted and one ride twice as the queues weren't bad at all.

My highlight of the day was Nemesis (my favourite ride as a teenager) but I have never been so scared and had such an adrenaline rush as going on the Smiler (image). It has a world beating 14 loops and twists. It feels like you're pulling big G's and the weightlessness in sections is frightening.

Other highlights were definitely the Wicker Man which surprised us all, then Thirteen and Galactica. We did do easy rides too like the Haunted House and River Rapids to fill the gaps.

We had so much fun all day. Claire and I enjoyed being care free and adventurous in the park and will be returning for the winter lights.
