African Bride

Plans for an early morning or evening walk do not materialise, and I’m ashamed to say we don’t get any further than the garden. It’s here I photograph one of my favourite flowers - Nigella African Bride. I’ve been trying to grow these for the last few years, but previously I’ve had one bloom at best. This year I seem to have at least two plants with several blooms - a definite improvement.

I love the colour of the deep purple stamens, and how their structure changes as they mature. Today’s blip shows one at a fairly early stage - but here’s an advance warning that this is highly unlikely to be their only appearance here this year!
