eye-yi-yi
I was on a hike in a wooded area of Traverse City today. I traveled over hills, saw trees, a creek and a big round building with a flat roof and no door. Odd enough, but it was hard to miss, as it was covered with graffiti. We don't have gangs in Traverse City, but we do have bored teens talented youth looking for a place to display and hone their craft. The artist that painted this eye clearly has talent coming out his/her pores. However, not all of the Spray-Can-Picasso's display this talent, some obviously just have anger issues.
I haven't been able to find anyone with knowledge of what this building (with no door) was used for. But clearly it is abandoned and a canvas for the spray paint enthusiast. I've heard of photographers taking kids there to use it as a backdrop for senior pictures and most people around here know it exist, but no one with useful information regarding it. It seems that the building's new purpose (canvas) is a good idea. We don't have graffiti in many other areas. So I guess the kids are happy with their monument to adorn.
Looks nice large. And here is a shot with more of the building. (Notice the uninspired letters scrawled across the face.... Too bad they had to do that. I find the face just an amazing bit of work. Wish I knew the artist so I could give them credit.
