Not so sweet!
Couldn’t resist using this blip of a portaloo/porta potty that we spotted whilst trying to get to Lombard street, it made me chuckle on a silly Saturday.
We’d decided to try and wander through Chinatown and make our way to Lombard street so after another diner breakfast (I can’t remember when I last ate so many eggs), we headed over to Chinatown. Think we took a slightly circuitous route but we got there and enjoyed looking at the shops and restaurants. If you take a look at the top left hand picture in the collage in extras, you’ll see my boutique
(Joking!).
We found ourselves out the other side of Chinatown and after a quick pit stop for a refreshing beer in an Italian cafe, passed the Stinking Rose restaurant where every dish contains garlic. On through North beach and up and down very hilly streets before we found the zigzag part of Lombard street. We walked up one side and down the other before heading to Fisherman’s wharf again to take another look.
We stopped for another beer and enjoyed being serenaded by a great street entertainer whilst sitting in the sunshine. The others decided to walk back to the hotel whilst Mr PHL and I headed for the cable car. Took a wee while to get to the head of the queue but the ride back only took 15 minutes once we boarded.
Quick wash and brush up and we were ready to head back to Chinatown for dinner. We headed to the R&G lounge which had some great reviews and weren’t disappointed. A bit of a wait for a table but we had seats at the bar and the very enthusiastic bartender kept us amused until our table was ready. He served us the largest G&Ts I’ve ever seen and even gave us complimentary shots of Japanese gin (not my favourite flavour). Food was delicious and after a mix up with the drinks order saw them bring us 3 glasses of white wine instead of the bottle we’d ordered, they then gave us the 3 glasses with no extra charge. Needless to say I was a little tipsy on the walk back to the hotel.
Backblipped Sunday for Saturday
