Storm Clouds over Biloxi Bay
We visited the Gulf Islands National Seashore which extends from Mississippi to Florida. We were on the Mississippi side. We explored the visitors center and some of the trails and spent a little time by the water watching the storms brewing over Biloxi Bay and the Pelicans fishing.
Otherwise, much time was spent helping our friend S set up her new "smart house," assembling book cases and talking and reminiscing. It is hard to believe that her future has been so completely upended.
In May, she and her husband decided to take a Backroads biking trip in Kentucky, the week before they were to close on their newly built home. On the first day of the trip, while biking, he died. It is still unclear whether it was a medical event or the subsequent trauma that occurred in a fraction of a second that resulted in his death, but in an instant her life took a very sharp, painful turn.
She has moved forward with such courage, determined to make her life here as they had planned. Her sister was here for a while after the funeral helping her buy furniture and things for her new house. Her cousin came and helped her with the move from the temporary apartment, packing, getting their things out of storage, getting two cars, bikes etc to the new house and then unpacking. As you can imagine she could hardly think straight. And now we are here to continue and help her hang pictures, and assemble things, set up the alarm, Alexa etc and anything else that comes up.
