Oasis Of Calm

Previously I have shot these water lilies with a telephoto. I wondered how things might change with a shorter focal length and wider view. At first it seemed a pretty bland image, but with some careful editing I was able to bring out the local contrasts and the ripple patterns in the water became evident.

Around the water lilies appears to remain calm amid movement all about. I also liked the light coming in from the top left, creating diagonal direction through the frame. Lastly I left the reed sticking in from the bottom right, which might be considered a distraction, because it seems to move the eye between it and the water lilies. I think it added a full stop to the image.
