The Wee Minister
A hillwalking trip in the Grey Corries, east of Ben Nevis and passed this wooden sculpture on the path on the way to Lairig Leacach bothy at the foot of Stob Ban. C was supporting a hill running friend of his, A, who was doing the Ramsay round and I tagged along. The Ramsay round is a circuit of all the hills around Glen Nevis, including Ben Nevis itself, of course, and the hills east of Loch Treig. It is 56 miles and 28,500 feet of ascent and the challenge is to do it all in under 24 hours. Far too much for me but C+I went up Stob Ban at the east end of the grey corries with some hot tea for A. We set off from the bothy at 11.30pm and slept on top of Stob Ban. A came by about 1.30am and was very appreciative of the tea.
The Wee Minister is carved from cedar and is said to bring good luck to walkers and climbers.
