Silver-washed...
A stunning morning at Castor Hanglands NNR with so many butterflies nectaring on flowers of bramble, Marsh Thistle, Creeping Thistle and Narrow-leaved Everlasting-pea, which is putting on a spectacular show this year. The female Brimstone butterflies co-ordinated with its dusky pink flowers perfectly (see extra)! The only species that eluded me was the Purple Emperor - but that's life. By 11 a.m. butterfly activity was declining as the hot conditions caused nectar to dry up, so I headed home for a cool drink!
