Happy Birthday
My life is quite well confusing right now, lots of unknowns about well EVERYTHING. Lately I can't even compile a list of friends because when push comes to shove they all seem to be busy or just flat out ignore me. Regardless, one thing I do know, is wherever I end up, the one thing that I will make sure is always in my life is the Howard Stern show.
The amount of entertainment and comedy from this show is simply amazing. The people who think he's raunchy or a shock jock I don't think have ever really listened to him. He's not really any more shocking than anyone else. He votes republican and democratic (he voted for Obama), he's very into Transcendental Meditation; his 3 daughters, parents, and wife are the most important things in his life. He hates reading books, but loves music, he believes in gay marriage, a woman's right to choose, and the legalization of marijuana although he doesn't do any drugs. He even banned swearing when they came over to satellite because he didn't want the show to become about that - now however that's loosened up and the show reflects more of how people and guys talk to each other in real life.
Everyday I listen I learn a little bit more about each character on the show and I have to admit after a few years it's kind of sad to think I know more about their lives, past and present than I do a large majority of my family. I hear their thoughts and viewpoints and discussions way more than any of my friends (except for maybe Kristy). So today when I was laughing I was like wow I really understand now when callers always say they're like their extended family - they really do become that.
Anyways, I was doing some work and I just happened to hear part of Robin's news where she was talking about the work NASA is doing on the hubble telescope and Howard said the following "Why don't they just take that hubble telescope and quit fucking around and aim it at Megan Fox's window so we can take a peek." I started crying I laughed so hard and realized today that w/o this show my life would be different. Nothing else makes me laugh so much, so consistently, so hard, as this show. Granted that line is not the best excerpt, but it just hit me at the right moment and well for those who have seen Transformers you know who Megan Fox is.
There is only one year left on their contract at sirius and they will probably not resign and if they do, they will not do the amount of shows they currently do. After their show ends I think they will get the recognition for how great and much of an influence it is. Even on pay satellite radio Howard gets more listeners everyday (around 4-5million) than on either Jay Leno or David Letterman. When he was on free radio he had around 15million listeners, so Leno & Letterman viewers combined and then multiplied by about 3 and that's how many people used to listen every weekday.
My blip is of some wine I bought to have with some friends over dinner tonight. No one messaged me back.
