Oleander
About 8:30 this morning I managed a quick water of the tomatoes and a photograph of my oleander, which is just starting to flower, before a hasty retreat into the house. It was already very warm.
By 1 o'clock our thermometer said it was 39C outside. Official temperatures were not quite so high - Farnborough airport, reporting 37C but still pretty toasty. Fortunately our routine of shutting out the warm air and sun this week has kept the house at a more modest 26C. In fact it is only 24C in the basement where Mr Flossmo has his study (clever man). A decent fan is also a big help.
I am waiting for the temperature to fall a bit before embarking on the journey up to North Wales for another holiday including a couple of printmaking workshops. Very fortunately the weather forecast there is for cool conditions after tonight. I felt silly packing a jumper and an anorak this morning but it seems I will need it.
