Oh to be a mermaid …
We had a swelteringly hot but fun time today visiting the Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt in Vienna.
In this park of fabulous rides you’ll also find the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel which I include in the extras. The views over Vienna are breathtaking. It was designed by British engineers Hitchins and Booth and constructed in 1897 by Lieutenant Bassett, a Royal Navy engineer. It’s purpose was to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I and it is one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built.
