Do you know how to boat?

So we were walking back from the cinema the other day and saw two guys in a boat, adrift from a party. They were going round in circles whilst waving oars around like they were doing semaphore.
The people at the party thought it was hilarious as they were getting further and further away from said party.
The oar waver asked us ‘do you know how to boat?’ I tried to explain that maybe the oars should actually connect with the water but I don’t think he was really listening.
After that, whenever any of us did anything, it resulted in questions like:
Do you know how to hammock?
Do you know how to oven?
Etc….I suspect this one will run for a while….
