Flag
We spent a long time on the flag. Our flag. The flag of our new Nation. We argued and discussed colours and symbolism. In the end, K, exasperated, went away and came back with the perfect flag. Its blue was the blue of our seas and of the skies above our beautiful mountains which were themselves represented in the new flag’s central motif. For once, there were no arguments. It had been the same with our constitution, with endless disagreement which had only ended when K, single-handed, presented us with what a document that everyone agreed to strike the ideal balance of vision and flexibility.
I worried that our nation would not long outlive K.
