Too hot for crickets!

Already 29 degrees in the garden by 8am so maybe that’s why this cricket hopped through the kitchen window to cool off!

After the hottest night on record for the UK, (no wonder no one got much sleep last night, still 26 upstairs at 8am), the hottest day on record with temperatures reaching 40.3 in Lincolnshire. Thankfully it only got up to 35 here, though that was hot enough! I know some people love this hot weather but it can be dangerous for the vulnerable and elderly, which is why I’ve been doing my utmost to keep the house as cool as possible. Patient No1 been quite unwell with the heat today.

Mid afternoon it clouded over here, bringing showers, though still a muggy 32 degrees. So time to stand out in the warm rain, it was wonderful! The rain didn’t last long though and the sun soon reappeared; another sticky night ahead...
