Stand by to repel borders
Based on the success of yesterday’s visit to Dymchurch we took off for Folkestone this afternoon to visit the Lower Leas Country Park. Much busier than Dymchurch but we found somewhere to park and enjoyed an hour or so in the shade while the three year old made the most of some excellent play equipment.
I went in search of the Mermaid Cafe for refreshments at 4.30pm only to find it closed and had been for some time. There were plenty of people who would have gladly parted with their cash for cooling drinks and iced. One has to think of the staff of course.
Earlier in the day we visited the playground in the Woodland Trust. In truth it was far too hot being in the open. It was better in the shade and even better in the Holy Cross Church which was like stepping back 4 or 5 days! It was quite a wrench to leave.
I hope you managed to make your day bearable if you were somewhere hot. Here, as I write, clouds have gathered, the outside temperature has fallen 15c from the 43c recorded on the weather station. There’s a great through breeze between the living room doors and the front door. Perhaps a little rain might fall. The rain app says it should be doing so now.
