Flaming July

Great drama on our road today on the hottest day of this year or any year. A fault in an overhead power cable ignited the branches of pine trees lining a nearby footpath. As the fire took hold the fire brigade were soon on site and, of course, the power went off. It didn't take long for them to put it out but the trees reignited later on when the power was switched back on. So off the power went again. It turns out the originating problem is at a substation a bit further away which took 1550 properties out. There are still 252 properties with no power and we are waiting for generators to arrive to get us up and running again, we are told in the early hours of the morning. A memorable day!
