rise of the blistering sun

Woke up early. The rising sun shines directly into our bedroom. I don't mind so much as it gives me an opportunity to take a photo.

It was a scorcher of a day. My office was nice and cool (maybe a little too chilly). Outside is hot and humid. It isn't that bad here and I quite like the heat, but it is clearly very un-Scottish. All sorts of temperature records were broken in the UK, Western Europe is going up in flames, Italy has declared a state of emergency due to drought. This is the climate change that has been talked about for years. It is here and it is now. It does huge damage to the environment, to the economy and to us. We have been systematically lied to by the fossil fuel industry, the media and the politicians supported by them. It doesn't need to be like this. We can radically change and reorient our society. But it does mean a struggle for power. The old, white men just need to go.

Met with friends and fellow blippers down in Leith for chat and drinks, a very enjoyable evening.
