Diary Blip (Tuesday 19th July 2022)

This was the day of record-breaking heat and wildfires across London. Gardens have been frazzled and the Woodland Garden has suffered, although the shade of the trees has helped. The temperature rose throughout the day and was at its peak in the early evening. The gazebo shade temperature reached 31.9 (0.7 higher than the day before) and it was too hot to sit under the cotinus. In my study even with the fan on max it was 29 degrees, four degrees higher than Monday, and overnight (Tue/Wed) the outdoor shade temperature didn't fall below 22.4, a year high.
