Brand new Brimstone

The Brimstone butterflies spend the Winter hibernating in the treetops. They were the first butterflies we saw in April when the sun woke them up. They prefer purple flowers and love the bluebells.  Those butterflies mated and then died and we didn't see any for a couple of months (the eggs and caterpillars are well camouflaged). This year's new butterflies have just emerged and are loving the lavender.
