Stalker Castle
The day began pleasantly enough, with a quick walk from Linne Marine to the viewpoint for Stalker Castle, with so many gorgeous wildflowers along the path!
We headed off in the misty dreichness for about an hour and then followed a couple of hours where it was blowing a hoolie! Of course the AM and Veep were delighted and I was appalled! It was gusting over 20kn around Kerrera, although just about 14-17kn down as far as the end of Lismore.
Beyond Kerrera the sea was very lumpy with a great big swell and lots of ominous-looking waves. We’d already decided on the ‘short cut’ through Cuan Sound, a swift and treacherous dog’s leg that we hurtled through doing almost 10kn. A blowy sail took us to Croabh Haven and I’m so glad to be here! Although the pub restaurant isn’t doing food tonight, so we’re not impressed by the Lord of the Isle’s welcome to the wind blown traveller.
Oh well, the shop had wine and mini popadom crisps. A veritable feast!
