Bright flower beds

Early walk to Central Park and went to the cafe by the golf course which they have surrounded by flower beds donated by volunteers and painted by a volunteer who is over 70. Not yet finished but adding a lovely pop of colour!

Stupidly I put Betty’s lead down somewhere and lost it and when I got back to the cafe to check there they lent me another one to get home. Will return it tomorrow!

Having walked Betty I was then able to go to the first recital of the season at St. Andrews. Will McNicholl a guitarist of great skill and humour. It was very well attended. He took us round the world starting in Scotland where he was born and a piece he wrote about his home town, Glasgow followed by the song hecwrote for his girlfriend, now his wife who walked down the aisle to it! He then moved down to Plymouth, as he spent his university years here ! It was written in freshers week and it was he said the most mournful piece he has ever written fuelled by pints at £1 a pop!

He then took us to the Deep South, USA and the blues! Then by way of Brazil and Japan to Zimbabwe and pieces written by him when when he was there to reflect the musical culture of each place! An absolute delight and amazing skill and dexterity in the playing. A joy for everyone who attended it being the first one in three years becausecof covid.
