The Haunted House !

Abbey House was built around 1580 on the site of and using remnants of the destroyed Barnwell Priory. The ghost of a nun who appears three or four times a month, each spring, is said to haunt the house, and phenomena such as banging on bedroom doors, footsteps on the stairs and an apparition rattling chains have been reported. It is part brick, part timber frame and contains a fragment of the old Priory It has been exorcized three times and 'enjoys' the prestige of being the most haunted house in the world ! The president of the Society for Psychical Research (1953-54) rented the house for a month and heard mutterings and singing from an empty room.Two former tenants fled the house at 2am one morning, but wouldn't give a reason. The house is Grade II listed and now occupied by the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order as a residential and 'spiritual' community. Nothing has been reported by them......as yet ! This follows the two previous entries in my journal. I have one more picture to take of this area.
