Going down the tubes
I ditched an earlier blip of summery pretty flowers in favour of this macro of capillary tubes with fluorescence dyes inside them. I used sellotape, black plastic sheeting and a UV lamp to help make this composition. All very high-tech :P
The fluid is drawn into the narrow glass pipes via a process known as the capillary effect. You might like to read a little about it. Have a think about how trees transport water from their roots to their leaves!
Today I have been in the laser laboratory, generating lots of lovely data. What have you been doing with your Friday?
