If The Marvel Cap Fits

I didn't think it could get hotter than yesterday but it did! The temperature gauge in my car stopped at 39c - I don't think it was able to calibrate that it could possibly be anything above this!
My brother got a call from his boss yesterday afternoon telling him he didn't need to come into work today, after making it quite clear that he thought he should, after he experienced a slow moving overground train across London in the debilitating heat and the fact that there was actually no work which needed to be done anyway.
We managed to fit in another very early run before it became too intolerable and then decided our only activity for the day would be to venture out for another quick pint.
We headed to The Walnut Tree in East Farleigh (the original building dates back to 1528), which we hadn't been to for years, as I remembered it had a glorious pub garden although it also had a landlord with a shaved and tattooed head (nothing wrong with that in itself) who would greet you with a grimace rather than a smile, making the experience rather intimidating!
Thankfully it has had a makeover inside and we were greeted by a friendly landlady who's opening gambit was that she'd just come back from hosing down her daughter's goldendoodle (a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle) who was suffering in the heat due to its thick furry coat!
The garden wasn't quite as lovely as it used to be (although still a throughly acceptable place to enjoy a pint) but both the greeting and the beer more than compensated.
Today's image was taken on yet another local photographic safari, mistakenly undertaken in the height of the afternoon heat - I really should have known better! My god it was hot - I could feel the heat burning on my chest just walking a few yards from my house but was determined to press on until I'd captured my shot for the day. This was when I came across this seemingly abandoned Marvel cap hanging on a wooden fence outside our local cafe. By this stage I was beginning to feel a bit overheated and could have done with wearing the cap but decided to leave it where it was in case the owner came back for it.
For some odd reason I've actually weirdly enjoyed the strangeness of this intense heat - but calling it marvellous might be a bit of a stretch!
