Bridge Walkers
I watched the first half of Cardiff City FC last pre-sesson friendly match against Swindon Town on stream tv which kicked off at middday. Cardiff were 0-2 ahead when we decided to get out for a walk for a few hours.
We chose a walk over Old Severn Bridge (A48(M)) and back. Nearing the English side, workmen were in the cradle near the top of the bridge support when they started walking along the supporting bridge wires, giving us a wave as we watched!
I don't know how much they earn but I hope it's a good wage as I'd say they are a rarity - not many would walk some 400+ feet up in the air even with a safety harness!!!!
We enjoyed a coffee in the Service Station (England) and hoped to walk back to Chepstow on the opposite side of the Severn Bridge but it's apparently been closed a couple of weeks. Still, it was a pleasant walk approaching five miles with a few spots of rain as we crossed back to the start.
