Fish Are Jumpin'
Yesterday I photographed the circular ripples in the lake caused by a shoal of fry just beneath the surface. (Extras) I couldn't see the fish at all. This morning I was thinking about them and singing Summertime to myself when a huge carp jumped out of the water with a loud plop. Then I saw the tiny fry. Jack heron will be pleased.
The comma butterfly is pleased that the burdock has come into flower.
PS I have just read that when young fish have developed scales and fins they are known as fingerlings not fry.
