My sister’s garden.
I decided to do a bit of gardening earlier before we went to Harlow Carr RHS gardens, about an 18 minutes drive away.
I really enjoyed myself doing some deadheading, tidying up some plants in the borders and cutting back others which had been scorched by the recent heat.
Then I got the lawn mower out of the garage and cut the small square of grass.
The absentees return in two weeks time, so at least the grass will not be very long by then, and some of the plants will have produced new growth and flowers.
Stephen had gone for a walk.
Earlier this afternoon we set off for Harlow Carr, but could see the threatened rain about to empty out of the skies.
A Garden Centre was on the route so we turned in and had a coffee and some cake. By this time the heavens had well and truly opened and I will be very surprised if the level of the River Nidd hasn’t risen.
All of us in the café listened to the deluge pounding on the roof, which went on for well over half an hour.
When there was a break a little later we made a dash for the car and came back here.
It is now deluging down outside once more and the drops are hammering onto the roof of my sister’s small conservatory.
Now we are watching the final stage of the Tour de France as they reach the Champs Elysee eventually and the sprinters will fight very hard for the stage win.
Always incredible to see them all like a swarm of bees battling it out like a load of kamikaze cyclists!
Charging down the final section pell mell.
We go home tomorrow, after a good few days break here.
Wonder how our garden is getting on.
Our lawn was already burnt before we came up here.
