Itty Bitty Pretty One: Moth Mullein
My husband and I took our bikes up to the gameland, and then I walked from there. The woods are still looking green, but we could sure use some rain. It's been pretty hot here in central PA, and we are looking forward to some relief from these temperatures come Monday.
I spotted this pretty little flower out by the parking lot. It's the only one I've seen. It is just gorgeous to me, as pretty as an orchid. It's called moth mullein, or Verbascum blattaria. Look how lovely it is at the center of the bloom, like a pink and green party! Yeah, beauty like this, growing in a parking lot. Is this a magical world, or what?
We also had a visit from LGK, or Little Gray Kitty, the neighbor cat, on this evening. He does not come by often during the hot-weather months, so it was quite the occasion. He may have lost a pound or two. We played with him a while in the driveway. Please enjoy the photo in the extras.
I have two pictures, so here are two soundtrack songs: Willie Nelson, covering the Carter family classic, You Are My Flower, for the shot above. And for the photo of LGK in the extras: Joan Baez, with Welcome Me.
