St Giles, Netherwitton
I visited the village of Netherwitton yesterday, somewhere my brother recalled our cycling to while we were both still at school. That was in a letter he wrote to me in 1978. Recalling the cycling trip, he commented that it was ‘half a lifetime ago’. He was 28!
How many lifetimes for me now?
This is the village church. I can’t remember whether we visited it on that earlier occasion. All I remember is parking our matching bright red bicycles on the grass verge by the side of the road.
Yesterday I also caught up with a friend of my brother’s who flatted with him in his first years at Leeds University, at the Angel in Corbridge. A great day.
