The Mither Kirk

We had every season today.
Superb clouds and light, along with rain and hail.
The light created the conditions for a dramatic capture of the building
across the road from the College that I see everyday.

For those who like a bit of background information;
The Kirk of St Nicholas, affectionately known as 'the Mither Kirk', being the earliest known church in the city, The first mention of a church on the site of the present Kirk can be found in a Papal document of 1157. Given Aberdeen's proximity to the sea, St Nicholas was chosen as the patron saint of Aberdeen, as a miracle attributed to him was the rescue of some sailors in a storm.
The grounds host the graves of many famous sons and daughters of Aberdeen including; .

?. Archibald Simpson, Architect of some of Aberdeen's most prominent 19th century buildings
?. Dr Andrew Moir, Anatomist (Bodysnatcher, clever, dirty Andrew Moir' as he was
disparagingly called by his rivals)
?. Dr William Guild, Academic
?. John Anderson, Wizard of the North, Showman
?. George Davidson, the Packman of Pettens, (illiterate self made millionaire and philanthropist)
?. Elizabeth Crombie Duthie, Philanthropist
?. William Penny, Arctic Explorer
?. Andrew Cant, fiery preacher
?. Rev Dr James Kidd of Gilcomston (abolitionist)
?. Gilbert & Margaret Mollison, prominent Quakers
